What to buy?

I've been considering purchasing a tablet PC, and the Toshiba seems like a great one, but then I was chatting with a friend about the virtues of gmail, and thinking more about the operating system (OS). I understand that Apple offers a g-mail like function for archiving e-mail, and I've also seen some nice built-in functionality with blog-feeds on the Mac. So, I'm wondering if there's anyone out there in Cyberland who might have a recommendation for a tablet and an OS. Has anyone used the new dual-OS? I have always used Windows, so I am leery to drop it entirely. Also, I'd like to know more about pen technology. I've been considering Dyknow Vision, and I plan to get a demo at my University (in the next couple of months, after we've implemented Central Search ~ a Serials Solutions product that will allow users to search up to 100 databases at one time). In the mean time, has anyone else resolved this conundrum? Perhaps the systems are too much in flux to buy now. Thoughts?

It is a big decision and I read many reviews on Tablet PCs before I bought mine. I ended up choosing the Toshiba M400. The pen technology that Toshiba uses received great ratings. It is extremely accurate and is considered an active stylus so the pen doesn't actually have to fully come in contact with the screen to move the pointer. The Toshiba does a great job of recognizing my handwriting. I do not have neat penmanship so that is really saying something. Another big decision factor for me was size, I really wanted a small lightweight computer. My old notebook was very large and heavy. The Toshiba M400 has a 12.1 screen. I was unsure whether this would be large enough but I really don't notice it being too small. I can't help you with the dual-OS. My Apple experience is extremely limited although I do think it would be fun to have both. Good luck with your decision, keep us posted. You are going to love using the ink!

Going along the same lines at Chathi, a tablet PC would be great for me because I do not have neat penmanship and also it seems like one can organize work better on a tablet pc. Also, in regards to gmail, I think it's great because of it's unlimited archiving ability.
